In July, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency confirmed that a new state fishing record for the yellow perch has been established on Parksville Lake.

Jackie V. Kersey, of Cleveland, landed a 2 lbs, 2 oz. yellow perch that measured 14 3/4 inches in length. Mr. Keresy caught the trophy perch while using a minnow on a 10-lb. test line while fishing with a 7-foot Berkley Bionix rod and Pfleuger Gold Medalist Pro reel.

The new record surpasses a tie for the previous record of 1 lb., 15 oz., shared by a pair of anglers.

The criteria to be considered for a state record fish along with the new record application and instructions, state records and fishing license information are in the 2010 TWRA Tennessee Fishing Guide. Information is also available on the TWRA website.
