In 2011, anglers in Alabama can enjoy 4 days of free fishing at the M. Barnett Lawley Forever Wild Field Trial Area near Greensboro in Hale County.

The Alabama State Lands Division will open several catfish ponds to public fishing on the following Saturdays: June 18, July 9, August 6 and September 10. Fishing will begin at 6 a.m. and the gates will be closed at 3 p.m.

Anglers age 16-63 must have a fishing license.

The Forever Wild Field Trail Area consists of 3,340 acres of pasture and a mixture of pine hardwood forest purchased by the Forever Wild Land Trust from the Alabama Department of Corrections in the fall of 2008.
